Roberta Schilling Establishes New York Presence at 200 Lex
The Roberta Schilling Collection, a Miami-based furniture and home furnishings company founded by Brazilian native Roberta Schilling, opened the doors of its first-ever New York-based showroom at the New York Design Center this month.
Founded over 20 years ago, The Roberta Schilling Collection is a diverse line of furniture and home furnishings that emphasizes impeccable design harmonized with comfort and function, utilizing materials indigenous to Latin America.
From a very young age, Roberta Schilling, who grew up in Minas Gerais state, the cradle of Brazilian colonial architecture and art, was immersed in the world of art and decoration, as her mother owns a renowned local home accessory and fresh flower boutique.
Fast forward to the early 90’s, Schilling, a college student at the time, saw an opportunity to bring high-end, hand-painted Brazilian furniture to a receptive American audience while hunting for merchandise for her mother’s store in the US. A few years later, in 1995, 24-year-old Schilling founded her company which stands today as one of the premier distributors of Brazilian furniture.
A trendsetter by all accounts, Schilling has since seen her business grow to include accessories, decorative glasses, natural fiber textiles and fine Brazilian colonial antiques. In 2006, she introduced a line of contemporary furniture featuring clean, modern lines and striking shapes.
The success of the line has led Schilling to travel all over Brazil to seek out talented local artists who offer a new, creative approach to contemporary furniture making. The collection prides itself on fresh and unique inventory and is consistently expanding to include an array of new and established designers, curated by Roberta Schilling herself.
The Roberta Schilling Showroom is located on the 8th floor of the New York Design Center, suite 802. Visit rscollection.com, to learn more or schedule an appointment today.
